Waterfall Experience

Astagiri has access to a natural stream and seasonal waterfall on the estate. During monsoon (June–September) guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in the falls. The trail takes about 20 minutes on foot from the homestay.

River Trekking

The estate has hidden forest trails that follow a natural stream through the Western Ghats. Guests can trek along the river path at their own pace  suitable for all fitness levels. Your host accompanies you and points out local plants and birds along the way.

Mud Volleyball

A muddy volleyball court is set up on the estate for guests to play and enjoy. Most fun during the rainy season when the ground is naturally wet and slippery. Bring a change of clothes. Groups of 6 or more get the best out of it.

A raw, energetic version of India’s traditional sport played on a muddy ground. No equipment needed just energy and a willingness to get dirty. Great for large groups, family trips and corporate outings.

Lagori (7 Stones)

Lagori is a simple childhood game where one team knocks down a stack of stones and the other tries to rebuild it. No experience or equipment needed just gather your group and pick your teams. Suitable for all ages.

Bonfire Nights

Every evening, a bonfire is set up on the estate for guests to sit around, talk and relax under an open sky. The host family joins in and the night stretches comfortably long. Available for all guests as part of the stay, weather permitting.

BBQ Experience

Fresh fish, chicken or vegetables grilled over open charcoal alongside the bonfire. A great add-on for groups celebrating something special. Available at an extra cost.

Indoor games

Carrom, chess, cards and other classic games are available for guests to enjoy indoors. A quieter way to spend an evening especially good for families travelling with children or older guests.

Home-Cooked Meals

The host family prepares traditional homemade fruit wine using a family recipe. Guests are welcome to taste it during their stay, usually in the evening alongside the bonfire or dinner. A small detail that makes Astagiri feel genuinely different from a regular homestay.

Homemade wine

Every meal at Astagiri is cooked fresh by the host family using traditional Malnad recipes. Expect rice, sambar, rasam, seasonal curries, chutneys and homemade pickles. Breakfast is made from scratch each morning idli, dosa or ragi dishes depending on the day.
