Astagiri Homestay, Chikmagalur — Coffee Estate Stay with a Private Hidden Waterfall
Located in the hills of Mudigere taluk, Chikmagalur, on the beautiful Devaramane Betta road, Astagiri Homestay is a place where the smell of fresh coffee meets the sound of a private waterfall. Behind the homestay lies around 40 acres of our own coffee estate, and a short walk away there’s a small lake the kind of setting that makes you slow down and breathe a little easier.
Astagiri is not a resort. It’s a homestay built around real local culture and the everyday vibe of Chikmagalur. Here, you don’t just get a room and a meal you get to eat homemade traditional Malenadu-style food prepared by our own local people (not by a chef in a kitchen), sip-fresh coffee from our estate made from beans grown on our own farm, and spend time the way the people of Malenadu actually live.
We’ve been running Astagiri Homestay for over 7 years now, and during this time, we’ve hosted families, friend groups, and couples from all over India. Our two warm hosts, Usha akka and Shanta akka, make sure every guest feels right at home with real Malenadu food, outdoor activities, and the kind of hospitality you only find in the Western Ghats.
More Than Just a Stay Its an Experience
This isn’t a regular stay. At Astagiri, you can connect with the local culture and actually walk through our coffee estate to learn how coffee is grown, harvested, and processed in the Malenadu region. You’ll see the whole journey from the plant on the hillside to the cup in your hand – explained by the people who do it every day.
We also love a good cultural exchange. Sit down with us, experience coffee brewing first- hand, learn a little about coffee agriculture, and just talk – share where you’re from, hear about life on the estate, and swap stories over a cup of fresh coffee. It’s a two-way thing, and that’s what makes it special.
One of our main goals is simple: we don’t just share a swimming pool, food, and a room. We offer an experience. That experience includes trekking through the coffee estate, walking to our private waterfall, playing mud games by the lake, gathering around the bonfire, and tasting food and wine made right here. The stay is just the beginning.
